Movie Review: American Sniper

American-Sniper-Chris-KyleBy Derek Krayenhagen—‘American Sniper’ is much more than just the journey of a hardened war hero who becomes known as “Legend.” It’s about a man who starts to realize what is truly important to him. Journey with Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper) as he struggles with inner conflict between what’s just and how to be the man he wants to be.

Intense scenes bolster the movie when Kyle has to overcome his inner conscious versus what’s best for his country. Director Clint Eastwood uses the great acting performance by Bradley Cooper to capture these moments; he squarely focuses the camera on him and gives the actor freedom to keep the movie alive with emotion.

The movie and Bradley Cooper are great in their own right but instead of being an informational piece the movie becomes more of “life of a legend story,” which I loved! Based on the sniper Chris Kyle, this movie doesn’t leave anything to the imagination where dealings with Iraq were concerned.

One of the most true and telling war movies I have ever seen. The movie seems to be the truest representation of what men in war experience. The gripping combat scenes keep you on the edge of your seat while the powerful, overwhelming, and emotional scenes hit that sweet spot in your heart. The movie touches on everything and has something for everyone.

Look out for Eastwood and Cooper as they both give great directional and acting performances, something we have come accustomed to seeing from these two. I recommend that people go see this movie.
