Is Your Degree Worth It?

degreeBy Lindsay Martin– It is a proven fact that people who receive a college degree earn more than those who do not. However, is the degree you’ve chosen worth the money spent? A recent article from Salary.com shares the eight college degrees that have the worst return on investment.

Communications is number one, which is extremely disappointing because my major is Mass Communications. The other majors included are: Psychology, Nutrition, Hospitality, Religious Studies, Education, Fine Arts, and Sociology.

If you are majoring in one of the eight listed, you might want to consider whether or not it is worth the money. I am not encouraging you to switch your degree. However keep in mind earning a degree is expensive, so it is important to get the most out of your money.

Katie Weis, an art education major at Morningside gave her input on the topic. “I knew majoring in education came with certain financial circumstances. I love art and teaching and I am excited to share my passion with others, and that means more than a paycheck.”
