Kiosk Celebrates 75 Years of Creativity

By Caitlin Casey–To celebrate the 75th edition of the Kiosk this year the staff is doing something
special. Along with the regular issue, the best work of Morningside students over the past 75 years has been compiled into one retrospective issue of the Kiosk. Marcie Ponder is the editor for this issue.

The Kiosk Magazine is a collection of works, both literature and art by Morningside students. Those students are also the ones who make the selections and put the entire magazine together.

This year Kelci Teut is the editor of the literature entries and Jess Anderson is the visual editor of the art pieces.

“This is the 75th edition of the Kiosk, so it’s kind of a big deal,” said Teut. Along with Teut and Anderson about 30 other people helped make the final selections for all entries.

First, second, and third place awards (and sometimes an honorable mention/editor’s choice award) are given out for all art submissions, regardless of media used. On the literature side the awards are the same. All genres are included and usually the awards are spread out among them. This year they have chosen an honorable mention award rather than an editor’s choice.

The publication party for the 75th Kiosk Magazine will take place April 24th at 3pm in UPS Auditorium. This event is open to the public. The cover of the magazine will be revealed and all of the winners will be announced. Literature winners will have the chance to read from their piece and artists will be able to talk about their work. The retrospective issue of the Kiosk will also be released on the 24th.
