The Morningside Activities Council has big plans for next year.

The Morningside Activities Council (MAC) recently took its annual trip to NACA (National Association for Campus Activities) which is held in St. Paul, Minnesota.

MAC president for next year, Katie Schiltz, has a lot planned for the 2012-2013 school year. “I have a lot of new great ideas for MAC that I want to do” says Schiltz.

One of her ideas is to have a themed week each month.

“The first week back in August I want to have Welcome Back Week with the theme Morningside Rocks and do rock themed things”, explained Schiltz. Some things ideas for that week are a band, henna tattoos, and possibly even a rock wall.

While at NACA, Schiltz said they got to see a lot of great performances that we will get to look forward to next year. On September 14 hip-hop violinist Josh Vietti is coming to campus. Some of the MAC members actually got to see him perform at NACA.

“All of us thought he was the coolest thing ever”, Schiltz said with excitement.

Hypnotist Chris Jones has also been booked to come to campus in September for Wellness Week.

One thing MAC is still on the search for is a band. “We want someone well known, but still in budget”, Schiltz explained. She said they have a few ideas in mind, but for the most part they are keeping that under wraps. “We’ll just have to wait and see”.

Schiltz also wanted to remind everyone that all MAC events are free. With so many different things coming to campus next year they are hoping to continue to draw in more and more people.
