Morningside Student of the Week: Brittney Schindler

By Brittany Conolly ~
Brittney Schindler is a senior at Morningside College. Schindler is double majoring in Special Education and Elementary Education. Along with her double major she is receiving her reading endorsement.

Brittney says, “With my major I can teach kindergarten through sixth grade. I can also be a special educator, and a Title 1 teacher.” A Title 1 teacher is a person who specializes in helping students who struggle in reading.

Not only does Schindler have more than one responsibility with her majors she will begin her practicum internship at the end of her last semester of school. The practicum is required for all education major students. Brittney says, “My favorite thing about my major is that every day is something different. My job is not about repetition or sitting at a desk.”

Morningside has an impeccable reputation for having outstanding professors and staff. During students senior year homework and classes can get overwhelming. Schindler states it perfectly, “ Although the work load can be overwhelming at times. I enjoy going to class everyday and learning as much as I can to be an effective teacher for my future students.”

A good attitude and bright future can lead to a positive career. With help from her teachers and classes Brittney says,” Everyday I enjoy being around children and watching them learn. I also want to make a difference in a child’s life so I know that teaching was the right place for me.”
