Ball in the House entertains Morningside

Students clapped and sang. A few girls danced. Cell phones were waving in the air.

Ball in the House, an a cappella group from Boston, performed in the Bueller Outdoor Performance Theater Monday night. This concert kicked off Morningside’s homecoming week.

Ball in the House, a group made up of five men, entertained a crowd of over 70. The group had no instruments, but performed entire songs. Ball in the House sang a few original songs, including “Waiting,” a bluesy number. The crowd cheered and applauded when Ball in the House performed a few popular hits such as Rebecca Black’s “Friday” and the Black Eyed Peas’s “I Gotta Feeling.” They closed with a Bruno Mars song.

In addition to energizing the crowd with soulful melodies and danceable beats, they connected and joked around with students. One audience member had their laptop open to Skype so that their friend could watch from her dorm room. The band noticed, and kept singing and referring to Katie, the girl on Skype.
