Lead Exercise #2
Ten upperclassmen were suspended for one week of school due to causing a false alarm that sounded at East High School that happened three times last Wednesday.
The school said that disgruntled students seem to be the culprits behind the false alarm. They said that they were protesting the Monday suspension of five students, also suspended for a week, who were caught smoking marijuana in the school parking lot. There was a food fight that closed the cafeteria Tuesday.
East High School’s Principal Laura Vibelius commented there was general unrest at the school. “Not so much unrest because of suspensions, but because of summer vacation being so near,” she said. She also sees no continuation of these “incidents” in the near future.

One Response to “Lead Exercise #2”
Pretty good on organization, Reilly. The verb clause in the lede is a bit awkward, “due to causing.” Work on active verbs and cutting unnecessary phrases when possible.
