Update the scoring in the first story, and maybe mention the weekend rain as a way of getting into the second. If you stick with the last line of the third story, the content needs to focus on the advantages gained by getting a degree. The numbers are easy enough to find ($1 million plus over a lifetime) so re-focus the story a bit.
