The Constant Gardener

The main characters stick with their beliefs.  They develop relationships that help them succeed.  Tessa started these relationships through her research, and it helped Justin along the way. The start of the movie I noticed that Tessa and Justin adjusted to the culture.  They were well liked in the area and knew the language.  This really helped them develop relationships.  There were times that Justin had a difficult time to translate and it made it even more difficult to find what he was looking for.  The characters were all close when they communicated in Africa.  They embraced one another with hugs and kisses on each cheek.

The businesses use many techniques to make their product work.  They expand into foreign countries, but it is only to test their product.  There is blackmail used to get what they want.  They company is deceptive because they are trying to hide that they are using Africans to test their drug.  They threat any individual who is trying to stop them from testing their drug.

This movie confused me at first to try to randomly watch.  I used Google to help me understand the plot of the movie.  It made it much easier to understand and I wished I would have searched it prior to watching the movie.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

The message is that the girl, who is about to be married, was completed busted by the mercenary.  She does not want to call her out in front of the mother.  It can be assumed that the young girl knew she was being followed and panicked by attacking this man.  She was in complete shock when she heard that the man was a police officer.  The shock on the two women’s faces when they saw Sir Te at their door was also a sign that they were guilty of knowing, or doing, something.

Women in Foreign Countries

I do not believe MNCs should protect their shareholder value by restricting the placement of female employees in certain foreign countries if they are looking to expand rather than join another company.  There are some countries that do not believe that women should be employed in such positions.  This would make it difficult for MNCs to keep the business in those countries.  Losing business in these countries could cause shareholders to pull out their investment.

If they company is looking to expand into another country, but not merge with another company, they could look to hire employees that the country does not usually look at.  There are two entrepreneurs who look to hire the unexpected.  One mentioned he started to hire the disabled, and eventually favored the disabled applicant to the non-disabled (Harris, 2010).  They earn the same pay, but there is more ambition and will to work.

For example, South Korea rarely hires women for important positions.  But if owners wanted to start a business or help, they could hire the local women in South Korea.  Women do not work in South Korea because of they usually have social pressure to quit when they have a child (Profiting from Sexism, 2010).

Basketball Preseason

This morning we did a pool workout and it was exhausting.  Give a lot more credit to swimmers each time we do these workouts.  We only have one more week until preseason is over and we get to start playing basketball.
