Explosion at Mega City Mall
At 9:50 am today an explosion occurred at the Mega City Mall. Two fatalities and less than 100 injuries have been reported by early responders. An investigation is currently underway and Homeland Security has been contacted.
The police have no current suspects or leads. The police chief stated that, “There is no evidence yet that it was a bomb.” He also reported that the explosion occurred in the food court. The security cameras were recording during the event and will be analyzed for clues of the cause of the explosion by the police force and Homeland Security.
Mikaela Livengood, a mall cop on duty, was walking away from the food court when the explosion occurred. She reported that she saw a suspicious person place a box on a table right before she left. She stated that she doesn’t know if the box could of had an explosive in it but that to her it was suspicious.
A witness to the aftermath of the explosion, Jared Martin a local off duty nurse, ran towards the scene to help out once he heard the explosion occur. He stated, “It was in the heat of the moment, pulling stuff out of legs.” He also reported that once he got to the scene he didn’t see anything suspicious at all, just a lot of fire and smoke.
The mall spokesman, Bob Dillon, reported that the mall took a lot of damage to the food court and Ikea. Mr. Dillon assures mall goers that the mall will be up and running again no later than Saturday.
