Phone call delays flight

November 18th, 2009 by klg008

AirTran Airways says a flight from Atlanta to Houston was delayed due to a passenger refusing to end a phone call.  AirTran spokesman Christopher White said that after several failed attempts by a crew member to end the conversation, the captain returned the plane to the gate. The passenger eventually complied when he was asked to get off the plane, no charges were filed but the plane left 2 1/2 hours late for Houston.

This story brings up a number of questions. First, why didn’t the man get off the phone when asked right away? Was it an important phone call or did he just feel like being a jerk? I’ve never been on a plane and still I know that there is a rule that you must turn your cell phone off so it couldn’t be that he was ignorant, could it? And why did they wait so long for one passenger? If I was on that plane I would have demanded long before 2 1/2 hours that he either hang up or be kicked off the plane.

Was there noone sitting next to him? If I was anywhere near him I’m pretty sure I would have grabbed the phone from him and got the plane on its way.

But look at it this way: How many students refuse to put their computers away in class, even after the professor has asked nicely? Joust wait, I Gotta finish this level!
