This week when looking for a media comment, I didn’t settle. I went to find the best story I could. This week’s media comment is about Steve Bartman. Bartman is known as a ghost or a curse around Chicago. Bartman was the scapegoat in 2003 NLCS game 6 as he touch a foul ball as an outfielder for the Cubs was attempting to catch. Well, Tom Ricketts, the owner of the Chicago Cubs told the media that he will talk Steve Bartman for the first time after all these years and make a peace with him and invite him the Cubs season opening game. Overall I thought this article was hilarious and will be super exciting to not see everybody in Chicago want to murder Bartman and embrace him finally as he is welcomed back.

This article is about how Donald Trump did the impossible. He proved that anybody can run for president and actually win. It talks about how Hillary was projected to win by a lot, but Trump beat the odds. It talked about how the blue collared white folk helped Donald win. It talks about all the states that Trump won, and goes in depth about the key states that he won like Pennsylvania and Florida. It also talks about how negative Trump was towards Clinton for so long yet he thanked her for her service by running. Overall I think this article is alright, but an important thing this article does, is that it appeals to every body because a story about Trump appeals to every body because he is our new president sadly. This article is relevant to the class because it is written just like we work on and its from the New York Times so it sets a good example.

This news article is about all the NFL players and coaches that need to have good second halves of this NFL season to either get paid big, or to keep their job. There were a few that supposed me and I few that surprised me that weren’t on the list. I think the biggest surprise is Mike McCarthy. McCarthy has brought a Super Bowl championship and many NFC North division championship. McCarthy can’t be to blame for losing two starting running backs for the year and for the players not completely playing up to their super star potential. Overall this article was alright. It was written different with lots of different headers and not just one title, even though it had an official lead. I think most sports fans would get something out of this article, but not anybody else.

Lasting Legacy of Jose Fernandez

Jose Fernandez died September 25th in a boating accident with two friends early in the morning. Fernandez was the Miami Marlins’ star young pitcher.

The death of Fernandez not only affected the Marlins organization but baseball as a whole. Fernandez was described as the spark left in baseball. He was what baseball needed many said.

Marlins Manager Don Mattingly went on to talk about Fernandez’s and how he played. “There’s just joy with him when he played.”

Fernandez’s death made us remember that it is just a game, but it’s a fun game. Fernandez by no means a hall of famer, but his lasting legacy of the way he played the game will forever be remembered as one that everybody should play with.

Cubs Break the Curse

The Chicago Cubs break the 108-year curse as they went on the beat the Cleveland Indians 8-7 in ten innings in Game 7 of the World Series. The Cubs won the World Series despite being down three games to one, heading into Game 5 in Cleveland.

The Cubs were the first ever team to come back from three games to one in Major League Baseball history. The Cubs also proved a lot of people wrong this season. I talked to St. Louis Cardinals fan Sara Bauermeister about the Cubs actually winning the title despite many fans saying ‘It’s our year,” since she’s been alive.

“I think they proved a lot of people wrong, including myself. Nobody thought they could do it because they hadn’t in forever, especially getting down three games to one, I thought the World Series was Cleveland’s no doubt.”

The title is not Cleveland’s though as many know, and the Cubs have three to one odds to win the World Series next year according to ESPN, but we all know how three to one worked last time.

Have you ever been flipping through the channels on a Thursday or Friday, when you see a football game on? Normally when I do this I stop for about a second then see the two teams are bottom feeders and don’t stay long, but now I might have to start staying, considering the Big Ten will feature six games on Fridays in the future starting next year in 2017. This will open up TV stations on Saturdays like ESPN to have more range to show you more exciting games then having to show power five conference games all the time. Overall I think this is a great thing considering I am a college student, but I immediately feel for the high schoolers who are watching or playing for their high schools every Friday and they might miss a game that includes their favorite team since they are playing or watching. Overall this article was interesting and honestly kind of blew my mind considering I didn’t even know this project was in the works and I am somebody who follows the Big Ten pretty hard. This article relates to class because it had a great lead and drew me in right away and I think it will draw lots of people in considering there is going to be good football games on Fridays now.

This article is about Bill Murray. Yes, the famous Bill Murray. Murray is a die hard Chicago Cubs fan and in the wake of the World Series, before Game 6, he had an extra ticket to the game in Cleveland and gave it to a random women he met in the parking lot that had said didn’t have a ticket. Not only was it a World Series ticket, it was right next Murray. The Cubs would go on to win the game to escalute the rumors whether Murray would bring this random women back for Game 7 and if he is superstitious or not. Overall this is a great article about how celebrities are normal people too and do this awesome things that leave us inspired at the end of the day. This article links back to our class because it is a very short article and we work on those all the time, and it had a great lead because draws in a lot of different people with the thought of Bill Murray and sports.
