Greg P. Guelcher

Greg P. Guelcher

Dr. Guelcher is an Associate Professor in the Department of History and Political Science at Morningside College.  He has been with the college since the Fall of 1996, holds a Ph.D. in Modern Japanese History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and currently serves as Executive Secretary of the Midwest Conference on Asian Affairs.  He is also a political activist and Faculty Advisor of the Morningside College Democrats.

 

Yumiko Guelcher

Yumiko Guelcher

Yumiko Guelcher is a native of Japan, who was born in Kanazawa City and grew up in Toyama City.  She came to the U.S. with her husband in 1988.  Yumiko has served as an Adjunct Instructor of Japanese at Morningside College, and is currently employed as an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher with the Sioux City Community School District.  Yumiko holds a Bachelor’s degrees in Linguistics (Toyama University), as well as a Master’s in Education (Morningside College).

Alyssa will be a Sophomore at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this fall.  She is planning to double major in English and Psychology, and loves creative writing and poetry. 

Alex will be a Sophomore at North High School in Sioux City, Iowa, where he is a member of the Swimming, Cross Country Running, and Tennis teams.

Jordan is a Junior at Morningside College, with an Elementary Education Major and Global History Minor.   Jordan is 21 years old, and the son of Randy and Janet Aggen of Anita, Iowa.  His activities at Morningside include College Choir, Kappa Delta Pi and Phi Eta Sigma honor societies, and involvement in the Morningside Leadership Academy.  Jordan has previously travelled to Europe, China, and both coasts of the U.S.  He looks forward to helping Morningside College and Hwa Nan revive their historic relationship!

Greg Anderson

Greg Anderson is an English Education major entering his senior year at Morningside.  He’s been involved in both writing for and editing Morningside College’s literary magazine, the Kiosk, and has hosted a show for the college’s television station.  Last year, he studied abroad at St. Mary’s College in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

 

Adam Gonshorowski

Adam Gonshorowski

Adam is a Senior at Morningside and has a Double Major in History and Business Administration, with a Minor in Media Production.  After graduation, Adam plans to apply to a graduate program in film production.  Adam recalls that he has been an avid film buff most of his life, and even began making his own films in 2001 after having been inspired by the original Jurassic Park movie.  While at Hwa Nan, Adam hopes to begin work on a documentary film featuring the school and its long, proud history of educating the women of China.
