Note that Fuzhou is located in Fujian Province and on the coast of China; it is about equidistant between Hong Kong and Shanghai, and across from Taiwan.  The population of the administrative district of Fuzhou is generally listed as being around 5.8 million, with some 1.5 million living in the city proper.
