Global Warming is a Farce?

The article talks about a man named, Don Easterbrook who is a professor from Western Washington University. He claims the earth’s warming and cooling is due to the oceans; not from the sun or man – made.

“The oceans, he says, have a cycle in which they warm and cool cyclically. The most important one is the Pacific decadal oscillation (PDO). For much of the 1980s and 1990s, it was in a positive cycle, that means warmer than average. And observations have revealed that global temperatures were warm too.” The oceans have been cooling since 1998 which is the year the earth also started to cool. (Yes, the earth has been cooling for more than a decade).

Mr. Easterbrook has come out with a theory new to the world. Do we dare believe this one? Who knows. One thing I do know is that in Sioux City, Iowa, it has snowed twice before October 12th. I can never remember winter coming so early. My common sense tells me that global warming is simply not happening.

Throughout this article, it gives other “experts” opinions and just about all of them has a different view. How were we sucked in by this warming hysteria? Now that many people are starting to realize warming is not happening, the “experts” are changing the title to, “climate change.” Another tactic that is commonly used, “It is the warmest year on record!” You have to ask yourself, “How long have humans been keeping records?” Only about 100 years, so please do not fall into this bottomless pit of belief in global change/warming. You will only be disappointed.

Some say climate change is happening due to man-made reasons, solar activity, volcanoes, and now from the oceans. Global warming should have switched on a red light for the older generations. If they can remember back to the 1970’s, so called “experts” thought the world was headed for another ice age. Roughly 25 years later these same “experts” thought the world was going to overheat. Luckily for you, I can tell you one thing that is true. These “experts” do not know their head from their toes. They can only guess and hypothesize. The earth goes from cooling to warming, now back to cooling. And when in doubt, just change the title.

The world has bought into climate change so bad that it is reshaping how we produce any kind of goods. Just about everything that comes to mind is being changed in a way so the earth can become a “greener and safer environment.” This costs LOTS of money. When humans change something, they better be sure it’s right. It looks like to me, it was all on a guess.

Initially I didn’t think much of the use of the word climate change rather than global warming, but maybe it’s more accurate. Just because it snowed early doesn’t disprove climate change. It does support a disruption of weather patterns that have been recorded for about 100 years. From what I can tell Iowa is experiencing shorter, milder winters, though I may be wrong. If these changes are occurring on a planet-wide scale, we could see some pretty serious changes.

The problem of these disruptions, from my perspective, is changes in growing seasons, migrations, and the stress is putting on insect and animal populations. Have you read anything recent;y about honey bees?

I have looked into this so called bee crisis and there is still no overwhelming evidence to show it has anything to do with global warming. From the website http://www.greendiary.com/entry/honey-bees-mysteriously-dying-across-north-america/, they say they are only slightly closer to understanding the mass death of bees. From http://sweetness-light.com/archive/wapo-global-warming-is-killing-honey-bees it does state that flowers are blooming a full month earlier than they did in 1970. (I remind you this work is not published yet). The claim here is that if the flowers bloom earlier, bees cannot get enough nectar, and without nectar they are susceptible to disease. This whole article though still does not have any clear, hard evidence that weather is the problem. It even states that in the Midwest last year it was the late freeze that brought the nectar growth to a halt. It over and over uses phrases like “trying to understand, could potentially, theory, and my favorite hypothesis. “ A hypothesis should not be mistaken for the word fact. Theory’s and hypothesis’s are not facts and until scientists put facts on the table I will not worry about the bee problem.
I don’t know what to think about the migration problems scientist also hypothesis about. Scientists claim global warming is/will cause birds to migrate earlier and at different times than they have in the past. It is pretty hard for me to believe this because it is proven that the world has been cooling since 1998 and the birds should not be migrating any differently. It is almost a scare tactic in my opinion. What we should be focused on is things that people have done themselves to cause problems in the ecosystem. We have a much better chance at solving that, than trying to curb the earth’s temperature.
I am a big hunter and here in Iowa, hawks have been illegal to shoot for years. Now we have a surplus of hawks. Pheasant numbers have been down and hawks are a pheasant’s number one predator. There is no question hawks are killing off pheasants. Numerous states have the same problem with mountain lions. In parts of California, most parents drive their kids to school for fear of mountain lions stalking their kids. I could list things like this all day. I say we worry about what we can control. We can control hunting licenses. Humans more times than not, mess up the ecosystem out of fear; they were fearful Hawks were going extinct. Now were fearful migrating birds are going to mess up the ecosystem. It’s a never ending circle here.

+ We should be more concerned about Global Warming and Climate Change because Typhoons are getting much stronger and there are greater incidence of Flooding. take for example the recent Typhoon Ketsana which devastated some countries in South East Asia.

  4. dry001 says:

I believe using natural disasters is a weak excuse. You can research Typhoons and you will find that some of most destructive on record are not in recent history. Take for example the Super Typhoon that hit Japan in 1959. It had winds recorded at over 160 miles per hour which is equivalent to a category 5 hurricane. This typhoon left millions homeless and was half a century before anyone thought of the phrase “Global Warming.” Natural Disasters have been around since man, and will continue to happen until the end of man. History proves to us that there have been just as damaging typhoons as there are today. People have been duped by crummy facts if they believe they are more damaging today. Natural Disasters will continue to live to their name……Natural.
