Time! Time! All about time!

August 24th, 2009

Hey All!

Time for classes to get started, and that means time to use those computers for more than just Facebook! Computers come in real handy for not only social networking, homework, and listening to music, but they can make organization a real piece of cake.

For me, the best kind of organization is knowing what’s going on so I can be on time to all my appointments…and trust me, when you’re me, this is REALLY important.

If you have a Mac, there is already a calendar application on your computer. It’s called iCal. iCal is really easy to set up and use. We’re not going to go there today, because I want to talk to something Mac and PC users alike can use. Did you know Google offers a calendar service? Well, you do now!

If you go to http://calendar.google.com, you can create a personal calendar. This calendar can be used to help you keep track of your own events, as well as subscribe to the events of other users. For example, if you know your professor keeps a public Google calendar, you can search for them, and know when they’re in class or have their office hours. The neatest part of the share function, is that you can also upload your calendar on your blog or another webpage. Click on the picture below to see my caledar. You can see that the times in blue, are the times that I have my office hours to help you!
